Known for hosting some of Colorado’s most memorable events and programs throughout the year, Two Parts earned yet another craft-scene badge this past Saturday with the Fifth Annual Denver Festivus. Echoing its slogan, “A beer festival for the rest of us”, the self titled Denver [only] Beer Festivus brought together breweries, cideries, and local craft goods vendors at the stunning Wings Over the Rockies Air and Space Museum in Denver.
So how did Two Parts pull off this seemingly routine brewery event in a town that has more and more drinking events to choose from each week? Well, by making sure that Festivus is anything but routine! It is instead a vibrant way for beer enthusiasts, friends and families to revisit dozens of their favorite Denver breweries under a backdrop that celebrates the awe-inspiring heritage of flight in the Rocky Mountain region. The museum itself, an astonishing space located in Hangar 1 of the former Lowry Air Force Base in eastern Denver, protectively insulated attendees from the cold with a fleet of 50 iconic aircraft and allowed full access to its many interactive exhibits.
And because craft is their specialty, no Two Parts production is complete without signature craft booths from local vendors. Alcohol and drinking gizmos, hand-made apparel, jewelry, accessories and ornaments really brought out the shopping spirit that tends to accompany Winter. Beautiful things were everywhere and people were suddenly remembering upcoming birthdays, reconciliations, graduations, holidays, etc. One lap around the hangar involved weaving through classic ugly sweaters, hitting up the gourmet jerky buffet, cheering on the silent-disco dancers, automated selfie stations, and chasing a small airborne blimp that was dropping small parachutes of Lyft credits, Argonaut Liquor coupons, and toys.
If Festivus sounds like the right combination of Colorado and the craft scene to you too, keep up with Two Parts on social media and swing by one of their upcoming events. And be supportive, swing by the Wings Over the Rockies Air and Space Museum anytime. It may not always be Festivus there, but brewery spirit is alive all year round at the Lowry Beer Garden next door.
